Grouping Colonel LIPHART, Commander G.R.62 (7.I.D.)

Hi Guys. Following the Thread : http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=739356 , I want to share the great Grouping from Oberst Liphart. This Group has been given to me by his Family earlier in 2002.
This Colonel deserves my greater Respect, he was not "running after Decorations", was human in his commandment and very beloved in his Regiment, as written in the Divisional History of he 7.I.D., and much appreciated by the Generals he served with, like Blümm and v. Rappard. Oberst Liphart was Soldier from Profession, but always keep distances with NS-Regim, and never belonged any political organisation.
I am friends with his Children who welcome me several time in their Home, and spent there some great Hours I will never forget. This Thread is dedicated to them, and I hope you Guys will appreciate it too ! Lionel.

Johannes was born 1901, and volunteered in the Reichswehr as "Kadett". He became an Officer 1926, served with the Chevauleger in Angsburg and went to Augsburg as an Oblt in 21.(bay.) I.R., where he led the Transmission Section (Nachrichten Zug)

He then was at School at the Academy of War (Kriegsakademie) in Berlin, and was promoted Hauptmann in 1935 (RDA 1.1.35 - 11). By leaving the Bay.21.I.R., he received a nice Present from the NCO's of his Unit.

1938. at an unknown date, he was promoted to Major. In 1939, the War was knocking at the Door. In Landshut a new Division was created (57) on Aug.26th from the Inf.Kommandeur 7. They was a need for Officers, and Major Liphart was called there to be "Divisional IIa" - division Adjutant - from General major Oskar BLÜMM (KC Nov.23rd 1941). He then took part to the Polish Cmpaign and received the Iron Cross on Oct.9th 1939.... At this early Date, it seems that the Division was not equiped with official awards Documents, the one from Liphart was made on a very simple sheet of Paper !!

1940, the battle of France. The 57.I.D. was involved in the battle of Abbeville, in northern France then follow the campaign until Normandy. To commemorate these Battle, a Book was printed. Major Liphart of course received one copy of it..... and also the Iron Cross First Class.

1941. Liphart knew the early phase of the Fighings in Russia with the 57.I.D. Among wellknown Name, those of Sokal, Brody, Uman Tscherkassy, then to the South through Dnjepr, Poltawa in direction of Charkhow. There are few pics from Liphart in my Collection, this one has been taken Nov.6th 1941.... At the end of 41, L. was commanded to Germany, to follow different Courses to have the ability to be promoted "Regt.-Kdr". Generalleutnant Blümm gave him a postward from him with a special thanks for 3 years good common Work !!

Liphart stayed in Germany until september 42. During this period, he was promoted Oberstleutnant. He was then again commanded to the russian Front, and expressed his desire to come back to his old Regiment, the 62nd. The Opportunity happened as its Commander, Colonel Ochsner, was called back to the Reich. On Sept.15th 1942 took Oberstleutnant Liphart command of the G.R.62, and was directly involved in the all battles from the Unit. he dsitinguished herself by leading in Person the Attack of the "bunker-Wood" KOLONINO on March 25th 43, and the high 260,2 in the Vicinity of MURAWTSCHIK. On July 2nd 43, he received from General von Rappart the IAB. It is not usual an IAB Award be signad by a regimental Commander, except for high ranking Officers.... That makes this Document very interesting. By the Way, note the great condition of it, like all other documents indeed, no folding and no holes which is quite hard to find !! For his Attitude on the Eastern Front, he reveived the German Cross on Mai 28th 1943. Interesting Point : the original cover in which the formal Award was sent is still here, even with explanations that due to their big Size, formal Awards are never sent to the Front but to the Home adress. A nice combination, as the other Documents in a almost perfect Condition ! TO BE CONTINUED !
