Rommel related picture

This picture was given to a friend of mine by Helmuth Hofmeister (taken by him) of Rommel and Gen von Bischmark. He was a staf officer to Rommel. Can anyone please provide me with more info on Hofmeister and identify the third officer in the picture (maybe Maj. Bach).

I would also appreciate if someone can translate the back for me? It involves South Africans. many thanx . Jacques
