Major Hans Jungwirt

Giday everyone,

I am searching for some information about Hauptmann Hans Jungwirt who in 1942 commanded the first battalion of Fallschirmjäger Regiment 5 in Tunisia.

In 1945, Hans Jungwirt was awarded the Knight's Cross. Hans Jungwirt also received the Germon Cross in Gold.

What I would like to know is whether Hans Jungwirt ever served in an Army unit prior to him him becoming a paratrooper. I also would be interested in learning whether Hans Jungwirt was a member of Sturmabteilung Koch and whether he participated in the capture of one of the bridges spanning the Albert Canal in May 1940.

Not very helpuf regarding to inquiry but Jungwirth is not listed in Fellgebiel's book about KC holders. Would he have received the KC at the very end of the war ?
From my sources, no KC was awarded to Fallsch.Jäg.Rgt. 5.
However, I found 2 KC holders whom were in this unit until the end of war/their death :
1943 :
Erich Shuster (Lt. in 1/Fallsch.Jäg.Rgt. 5)
DoB : 06/11/1919
DoD : 11/01/1943
EK1 : 13/05/1940
DKiG : -
RK : 21/08/1941 (290th) as Fw. in 3/Sturm-Rgt. 1 (7. Flieger Div.)

Otherwis, several other KC holders were members of Fallsch.Jäg.Rgt. 5 during a time :
Oberst Becker Karl-Heinz
Hauptmann Egon Delica
Obstlt. Gerhart Schirmer
Hauptmann Friedrich Wangerin

Hauptmann Hans Jungwirt commanded the first battalion of Fallschirmjäger Regiment 5 in Tunisia.

Later in the war, Jungwirt commanded Fsch.A.A. 12. In February 1945 Jungwirt was placed in command of Fallschirmjäger Regiment 32.

I believe that Jungwirt was awarded the Knight's Cross in May of 1945.

I have seen photographs of Jungwirt wearing the German Cross in Gold but unfortunately I have no idea when he received this award.

I know a pic showing Major Hans Jungwirth with the DK and the scarce Ehrenblattspange der LW. I think he was awarded the DK on 4/1/43 while serving with the I./J.R. "HG".

Not to hijack your thread but can anybody help me which units Jungwirth was assigned to/commanded after July '44? According to research by Mr.deZeng, Jungwirth was releaved of his command from KG200 before the Vercors operation, before he commanded FJ Ersatz troops in October. Which unit was this? There is also mentioned an "Sonderverband Jungwirth" attached to Panzer-Brigade 150 in the Ardennes-offensive. Can anybody help clear up?
