    My newest aquisition

FYI, I know it is rare, personally it is the first time I ever see one of these awarded to a Romanian...

the cross of liberty 3rd class is pretty common, it was dished out to German officers of middle rank (major, oberstleutnant etc.), large numbers of the various classes were awarded to the German troops in Finland. But, it's the award document that's rare, never seen one to a Romanian officer before.

any idea what his connection to Finland was?

He was the commander of a Romanian cavalry RGT, the fourth Rosiori Regiment.

I will make some further researches and get back to you.
