I posted this photo before somewhere else, but seeing that there are more US citizens here, it might find some more attention. The photos shows the hanging of a German flag in the office of the Secretary of Navy Frank Knox. The story behind it I could find on the wonderful u-boatarchive site. Odenwald was a Blockadebrecher, which sunk itself when the US Cruiser Omaha came in sight. Sinking however was not completed, so the ship could be salvaged with it's precious rubber cargo. The US crewmembers even got some money for that action, claiming that they had salvage rights. Well, some money, I guess $ 3000 for the boarding crew was quite a lot at that time.
