Very interesting photos Bill, as always.
Immediatly after the war two big POW's camps was organized in Italy: one in Rimini and another one to Caserta. Do you have some photo about?

Jan10 - FJ Oblt Juergen Schlicht POW Camp 30 Ottawa, Canada. There are 7 other portraits posted of him on pages 1119, 23, 29, 30 31, 32, 33. He his home was in Regensburg, Germany. He is on your right in the Photo.

Just a little correction here camp 30 was near Bowmanville Ontario not Ottawa. You might be confusing it with Oshawa which is also near Bowmanville. Both are near Toronto.

Camp 32 H was just north of Ottawa in Gatineau (Hull) Quebec. This was a labour (logging) camp and until recently had a few buildings left.

Wainwright Alberta has some of the best preserved relics (buildings) but it is still a very active military base so access is somewhat limited.

Thank you for providing further information as to exact locations but I was not the one who was confused. If anyone was confused as to where he was located it was the POW himself as evidenced by what he wrote on the reverse side of his portraits. This is not the only POW that has written that Camp 30 was in Ottawa as I have posted others on this thread.

Funny you fell for a 65 year deception trick.

In order to conceal the exact location of the Camps across Canada. All mail going in and out was processed in places other than the camp location.

Most of Ontario it was Ottawa, Alberta was Quebec City and I think Quebec City was Moncton New Brunswick.

Would be neat to see what other addresses were used would make and interesting study.

How may Cards do you have from POWs in Canada???
