        A very nice grouping, ustufvorwaerts.

Schmitz/Thies states that 20.Division adapted the marking of Brandenburger Tor because General Stumpff had commanded 3.Division earlier before he became the divisional commander of 20.Division.

                    Hi ustufvorwaerts,

This is a T-34, and the German tank in #35 is a PzKw III. I would guess Ausf. E or F. Looks like it still has the 37mm gun, though they were all rearmed with 50mm guns. If you post this photo on the Achtung Panzer forum I'm sure someone would know the model for sure.

                    Regards,
                    Greg

                      Hi Akira,

thanks - do you know whether General Stumpff signed one of the docs posted here or can you identify the sigantures ???
And what happened to Regiment 59 in June 1944 when Leutnant Hofmann fell near Siewastjanowka (24th June). To which Heeresgruppe did the 20. PzDiv belong to ???

                      Hi Greg,

thanks for the info - didn´t even know we have a Achtung Panzer Forum.

                      Cheers,

Can anyone with German language skills decipher the death notice?

                        Thanks,

                          Hi Mike,

the death notice is post-war and came from local authorities of the hometown where Leutnant Hofmann used to live.
They themselves have been informed by a special office, who had the responsibility of informing family members of former members of the Wehrmacht about the death of their relatives.

                          Cheers,

I was looking for a translation of the first notice.........looks like it was written in 1941.

                            Thanks,
                            Mike

                              Mike,
The first notice is a promotion document.
