Interesting letter I came across while sorting the latest collection buy.

Anyone has an idea of what this is all about?

My translation of the letter is.

"Firstly I must apologise that I am only writing to you today and sending on the newspaper clippings as promised. Your postcard with the photo has made you many friends amongst those involved. Your greetings were warmly reciprocated. Hopefully you will please us this summer with a visit accompanied by your revered wife. You do not need to make such a big thing of your inclusion. we look at that as a matter of course for real comrades likewise your visit in the summer will not be regretable. We would like to thank you for your generous transfer of 60 RM for the naval memorial.
we hope that you and your family are well and we send you friendly and sincere greetings."

Still today in Langenberg is a Marinekameradschaft.
They former club 1932 organized the lecture of the Ltd. a. D. (retired) Prüger with the subject: "Die Schlacht am Skagarrak". He showed about 100 slides.

The president of the club who welcomed the speaker Prüger was a man with the family name "Cardinal von Widdern".
He could be a son or grandson of the famous military historien Georg Cardinal von Widden
(* 1841 + 1909). He was Director of the Military Academy Neisse 1882-1887.
