    Werfer-Regiment 71

    Hallo

I just got the award document group after the battalion Commander of the III Battalion/Werfer Regiment 71 - any idea of who signed the documents?

It must be from the campagn in Italy!

Can you see what the Feldpost Number says on the KvK citation - is it 49249 or 49248? I can't make out the last digit properly.

    49248
    (2.1.1940-11.3.1943) Stab II u. 5.-8. Kompanie Luftwaffen-Regiment Barenthin,
    (12.3.1943-7.9.1943) gestrichen (Tunis),
    (8.9.1943-22.4.1944) 28.1.1944 Flgs.Betriebs-Kompanie (FK) 8,
    (23.4.1944-24.11.1944) 14.9.1944 gestrichen

    49249
    (1.5.1942-19.10.1942) Transport-Kolonne der Luftwaffe 49/IV,
    (12.3.1943-7.9.1943) Transport-Kolonne der Luftwaffe 108/IV.

Indeed, there isn't anything that is coming close:

I can't make the FPN out well, but only thing that is possible is that Werfer-Regiment 71 during that time was attached to another unit and that the FPN is of that unit. In no other way it is possible that it was signed by a Divisionskommandeur because Werfer-Regiment 71 was a Heerestruppe.

That unit was fighting around Salerno in September and then Volturno on the dates of the citations. I do not have him on any unit rosters as the commander of the III Battalion, Haupmann Brandt was battalion commander in May 1943 and then a Major Timpke after Jan. 1944.

it would be completely wrong if it had been signed by the regimental commander along with the abteilung or regiments fp nr.

            It's the 15 Pz.Gr.Div.

the EKII spange is signed by Ernst-Günther Baade and the KVKI by Eberhard Rodt

I can´t make out the feltpost no. - that is why I hoped that someone could recognice the signatures - I am NOT 100% sure that he commanded the III. Battalion but in 1941 he commanded a Pz Jäger Battalion so I assumed that he wounted have holded a lower position in 1943!

And i dont think he's a battalion commander. Rather a staff officer which would fit much better with him being a WWI veteran, being a reserve hauptmann and his KVKI
