here's what i use

here's what i use,

they are baseball card albums 11x9 size albums have around 20 ,safe plastic pages inside
that can hold up around 200 pics.
mostly holds the 2 1/2 x 3 1/3 size pics not the postcard size but i think they have those also.

bought my about 7 years ago, they may still sell them on the ebay.

Over here in Germany you can buy photo folders in postcard size (10 x 15 cm) as well as somewhat smaller (9 X 13 cm) which can hold up to about 200 photos depending on size and format. These are available in different quality and colors. For my larger size photos I have a more expensive albums with acid free paper and use photo corners. For my higher quality portraits such as Knights Cross winners etc. I usually have a much higher quality photo album with a hard cover. I got a Dymo labeler and use this to number and label my loose photo folders. On occasion complete photo groupings will show up from one soldier and the more interesting photos tend to come to the front (on the first pages seen) and if possible these are sorted chronolgically (this can often be done by observing the markings on the back of the photos). There are also special albums which come in a "case" which are designed for stamp collectors (postcard size). These are excellent, can be stacked and usually have acid free paper inserts. At stamp collector shops it is also possible to buy the covers for individual photos and postcards which help to protect them. I would advise investing the money in a good quality scanner and scanning your photos in at about 1200 dpi as Tif (more stable than JPEG) and in a lower resolution as JPEG for internet. As time goes on you will find that you accumulate a lot of photos and order is everyhing.

thanks for the ideas. I will call the local coin/stamp shop, maybe they have acid free albums for sale. Any other source to get these at?

Another option is what are called traditional photo albums.
These are board back and front, with black card sheets,seperated by
'lace tissue' sheets. Paper corners are hard to get now, but acid free
plastic versions are easy to get.

Gives a nice feel to period photos, as they would have been originaly
mounted. Check E-Bay or dealer lists, as 'period ' or unused military
albums show up now and again.
