    Foto with jager major Ritterkreuztraeger

    Hello,
On other side of this photo is inscription - "Zu einer Rast bei Lundenburg (?) 5. IV.45; Ritterkreuztraeger Major D???? (Reg. Kdr. 228)??????????? Lehr (Rgt. Adj.);"
Maybe, who will help to correctly read this inscription (Surname of the Major)?
    Thanks

Oberst Bernhard Sieber RKT was killed 21.9.1944....so it can not be him! He was Kommandeur of Jäger Regiment 228.

Oberst Otto Schury EL was Kommandeur of Jäger-Regiment 229 until 1.4.1945 when he was promoted to Generalmajor.......

Hauptmann Helmut Seeber was awarded the RKT 5.4.1945 as a Hauptmann according to my referenses, however did he received his award on that actual day? He was actually the Kommandeur of II./Jäger Regiment 229 at that time, or at least when put forward for the RK!

Hauptmann Reinhard Lehr was awarded the Deutsches Kreuz in Gold 9.3.1945 with I./Jäger-Regiment 229.

Could this be a mistake and it is actually Jäger-Regiment 229 and a mispelling of the Kommandeur name!

Both Jäger Regiment 228 and 229 were part of 101 Jäger Division.

      /Ian

After another look it is Major Karl Dixius, RK 26.11.1944 as Hauptmann und Kommandeur of I/Jäger-Regiment 229. He ended the war as a Major and post war with the Bundeswehr as an Oberstleutnant.

Interestingly he was awarded the Ehrenblattspange 25.7.1944 and the Deutsches Kreuz in Gold 21.3.1943 but chose not to wear the latter on the day of the photo!

        He died 28.5.1962.

The place name on the back of the 1st photo should be Lundenburg, today called Breclav (Czech Republic) a town with about 26.000 inhabitants near the Austrian border.
