Several months ago I posted a thread asking about any ideas about selling a large number of items from my paper collection, or maybe even selling the entire lot at one time. You all were very helpful and kind, but most said that I would loose too much of my investment if I tried selling it all at once to a dealer due to its 6 figure total value. I put a 6 figure value on the entire collection, because that’s what I have paid for it over the years, one item at a time.
Well, here’s an update. I tried sneaking a few things onto eBay, but that’s a minefield with this kind of material as we all know. My few postings were cancelled about half the time.
I tried listing on ePier, with moderate success, but I’m still working 45-50 hours a week at my ‘real job’, and how long would it take to list over 3,000 items? With the limited amount of free time that I have, I estimated about a decade!
I’m guessing that anyone choosing to look at the “photos & paper forum” has at least a little interest in this topic of collecting, and to me, it’s always fun to look at original material, even if one doesn’t have the slightest intent to buy. It’s nice to know what’s out there, and what was available to the public during the 3rd Reich.
So with this in mind, would anyone like to see about 1100 paper items now being offered from my collection? I have chosen a major auction house to sell a large portion of my collection, as again…I just do not have the time. Most of the items close at the end of the month, and include hundreds of original propaganda postcards, books, magazines, and some color posters.
I won’t provide a link here, or even name the auction house, but if you would like to see what’s out there, please just send me a PM and I’ll send you a direct link.
I hope that no one will be offended by this post. I just thought other paper collectors might like to see this large “Paper Exhibition” or “Papier Ausstellung” while it was ‘in town’. Maybe a fun way to spend an hour this weekend!
