    Rommel (DAK) feldpost numbers

    Hello,

I was hoping someone with a valued reference guide to German Feldpost numbers during World War II could quickly help me determine if two feldpost numbers were associated with Rommel.

I know of two envelopes (w/ personal letters signed by Rommel) with the following FP numbers and postmark dates:

Feldpost #00220 dated October 15, 1943 mailed from Europe
Feldpost #39 496 dated December 12, 1942 presumably mailed from Africa

These letters are 100% original but it would be even more interesting (and validating) to learn the history of these two feldposts during this period. Any assistance in researching these two feldpost numbers would be greatly appreciated!

    Cheers,
    David

      Hi Ade!

Thanks so much for this Feldpost information! It only further confirms the authenticity of these fascinating letters.

This group of seven personal letters (in total) from Rommel were addressed to a fellow senior Army officer and close friend in Germany. Five of these letters are on his personal stationary while in Africa and reflect his command (Der Oberbefehlshaber of Deutsches Afrikakorps, Panzergruppe Afrika and finally PanzerArmee Afrika) at the time of the letters. Very interesting & exciting!

Again, THANKS for your great assistance!

      All the Best!
      David Bunch
