    my newest photos, historically interesting

if anyone has read or seen the chronicles of narnia you would have noticed the great lion dies on a big stone table........ did the author of chronicles of narnia get the idea from this austrian monument or does it go further back than even that?

I had no idea a huge monument exists of a slain lion in stone dedicated to the austrian soldiers who died fighting Napoleon until I bought this group of photos.........

anyone heard of Dr. Ing. Neubacher ? was he very high in the nazi party? says generalleutnant stumpfl eingerfunden after that...
    these are large press photos.........

hmm, never that of that, but Austria was never subjected to any large scale bombing runs like other parts of europe. I would bet it was left untouched.

my questioin is, what year is this?
certainly pre-war, two of the people are wearing SA uniforms, in the smaller photo I believe is a high ranking nskk member, any experts here to shed some light?

        Austria

        Hi von Hoth,terrific photos.
        Hermann Neubacher Born 24/6/1893
        Regierender Burgermeister of Vienna
        awarded Ritterkreuz of the Kriegsverdienstkreuz
on 7/9/1943.Held rank of SA Brigadefuhrer.

The second SS officer is Heinrich Stumpfl who as an
Austrian Army officer was Cmdt of Vienna from 1938
till March 1944 as a Generalleutnant in the Wehrmacht
(Stumpfl 2nd SS officer from left).I did not know he also
        had SS rank.
First SS officer from left the name escapes me but I think
he died in 1939 or 1940,I am sure Max Williams or Michael
        Miller will know.

SS Standartenfuhrer is familiar, thanks for posting these photos Harmel
