Glad I could help. One major thing I forgot was Opel in Germany, a very big producer then and now and it was also owned by General Motors.

As a footnote to my "book", look at how the world has changed. Japan an Germany are huge exporters of vehicles today and China is not to be far behind. The American industry, on the other hand, has faded away, exporting almost nothing and in 2007 having seen imports taking more of the market than their own share. Even Korea is a major exporter to the US, something no-one would have believed in 1939.
