It says the German soldiers to surrender because they are surrounded.

There is some thing odd in this pic, those are not M1 Grands those GI Have Looks like late model springfields.

The Rifle on the Left is an early 1903 Springfield of WW1 Vintage you can tell by the rear sight ahead of the action and the straight stock. If you look closely the stock has the holes drilled for the grenade launching sight, although it has the mounting plate removed. Probably second line units. Interesting is the man on the far right has a fighting knife of some sort on his hip. It is certainly not a springfield bayo and the sheath looks to be either homemade or civi.
