    Blue Division Graves

I found these interesting photos on the web of obviously staged propaganda
shots of a Russian Tank running amok over Spanish Blue Division Graves.

Maybe someone who knows how to enhance photos can come with some decals on the helmets

            stunnning photo set. A+++++++++++++

Love to see those Spanish names on the crosses. How cool is that - CAPITAN SILVIO !!

That is a mark 4 panzer with soviet markings is it not ?

            Almost like watching video footage.

              Hello
              Almost like watching video footage...
It is "almost" a video footage, its not photos, its stills taken from a Sovjet propaganda movie.
Perhaps im too old for this, but i think that the use of words like "cool" in matters like this is totally wrong.

My feeling is that this whole sequence is a propaganda set up.
I am not convinced by the crosses, the way all the helmets are placed, or even the names on the crosses.
but no doubt it made its point with the public who saw the footage at the time.

I have to agree with Ray.
It just looks like recently churned up ground, no proper grave
mounds, and evey helmet is recently muddied.
Even in desperate times, the germans made at least an attempt
to put them in proper rows.
Of course the soviets did churn up grave plots, mainly the SS or
                  centre of town plots
It was german policy to remove recent grave markers before a general
retreat, to prevent propaganda use of losses.
In any event, as Ray says, the point was made, no ' Nazi beast' will
                  rest in soviet soil.

                  John.

But why are the Russians using a German tank for the movie?
                    Is it a Russian movie?

Beside this the red star and the inspription looks more like a feature movie than a genuine WW2 propaganda movie.

I guess in a genuine Russian proaganda movie a T34 would level the graves.

The Spanish army recevied several Panzer IV and used them for many years until the 1950s or 1960s. Could it be that the pictures derive from a Spanish feature movies about the Blue Division?

                      Good point Guenter..

Probably a movie reconstruction of a true event........

                      Cheers,
                      John.

There are several strange things in theese pictures, but I can guarantee that it isn´t a spanish film.

I think the film is : "canciones para después de un Guerra" de Basilio Martín Patino.
These screen captures have been mentoned before in Axis History forum
