    A place called Cercek

    Hi!

I am a bit interested to find out where Cercek is. Somewhere in former Yugoslavia I guess?

On the back of this photo it says:
"Nach 18 Marschtagen der erste Rasttag in Cercek"
    "gruppe ?????"

    Something like this in english:
"After 18 days of marching the first day of rest at Cercek"
    "group ?????"

It's a photo of a Gebirgsjäger unit, later transferred to Norway in 1940 and then going to the Liza front.

The unidentified word is MARSCHTAGEN. Nach 18 Marschtagen etc.

Now I more belive that this is perhaps from some Czech town before 1940. The photo shows a whole group without any medals or badges. If it would have been in Russia someone should have gotten something?

18 days of marching more sounds like some lovely soldier's test or field exercise.

On another photo it's written "K3 A im Jahr 1943" and that's in Liza I found yesterday in Kaltenegger's "Die Deutsche Gebirgstruppe 1935-1945".

Anyway - I need more time to research this photo lot...and more books

              Thanks for your help guys

              Regards, Stefan

Hi to all and if you ask me I think that name of the city is Yugoslavian one because if you look good you will see slashes above C.So Czech or Russians do not use that kind of alphabet or any other European nation except ex Yugoslavian republics all whit their own languages. My gues is that City name is CACAK in republic of Serbia which was part of former Yugoslavija.
                I hope it helps.

                Best regards

                Dejan
