    That U-Boot guy....

I was digging around in my collection today and came up with this photo dedicated to my wifes grandfather.

You can write to just about any living RK winner today and ask for an autograph and he will have a pile of photos ready for collectors.

If I am not mistaken, Doenitz was of the old school, where a dedicated photo was considered an honour. I cant think of ever having seen one signed by him to a collector.
either to old comrades or as a private honour...

    Am I off base here?

    Chris,

I think you are correct. Dönitz would send out signed photos, but just signed with a simple "Dönitz" , not dedicated. Anything with a personalised dedication from "Der Löwe" is pretty special.

From an "autograph" point of view, this 1965 dedication shows an interesting transition-- the old Admiral is wobbling back and forth between the old style script of his youth and the new style, simplified handwriting.
