Reichswehr meets SA and SS - interesting pics

    Hi everybody,

I´ve found this series of 3 pics in an album of a Reichswehr-Member, which I bought recently.
To me it seems to be kind of a Reichswehr Field Training with the visit of high-ranked SS and SA members.
Does anyone recognize anybody on these pics ???

    Any help is highly appreciated.

    Thanks, ustufvorwaerts

            Sta. 47

According to my rank list, Standarte 47 was located in Jena. Perhaps this offers some orientation as to the personalities. I imagine the images are from 1933 or 1934, perhaps more the latter year. This was also a time of not inconsiderable civil-military tensions between Rw and SA/SS. Danke fuer die schoenen Bilder und viel Sammlerglueck.

The fat Sturmbannfuehrer is indeed from the Jena Standarte, which came under the Weimar Abschnitte. That could give a clue to the SS-Staf. The SA-Ogruf. looks a bit like Ulrich from Kassel (not to be confused with Ulrich von Hassell) but SA isn't my strongpoint.

The SA-Obergruppenführer is indeed Curt von Ulrich. Unfortunately, I can't ID the SS-Standartenführer next to him.

The SS-Stubaf. is this fellow (info. from my/Andreas Schulz's book The SS-Brigadeführer, 1933 - 1945)(e-mail me at axisbio@yahoo.com if interested in purchasing a copy):

The Standartenfuhrer could be Karl Pflomm, who commanded 47.SS-Standarte from 12.06.1933 to 09.11.1933. See http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtop...ghlight=pflomm for a photo of him.

                    Mike.

                    You're a hero!

I have a Red Cross promotion document signed by Ortlepp in his Red Cross capacity, and also as SS-Brig.

I had never seen a picture of him.

Thanks to you and Ustufvorwaerts, I can now put a face to the signature on the document.

                    Thanks to you both.

                      Wie schoen!

Thanks to all for a pleasing seminar. I would love to know what these men thought of each other in the moment of these images, and in June 1934. I wonder what happened with the Roehm Putsch in Thuerigen?

                        Hi everybody,

many thanks Gentlemen - I´m very impressed about what you´ve found out on these "simple" pics !!!
Amazing to me is the fact that Ortlepp died 1971 in Aschaffenburg, Germany - that´s exactly where I live. But I purchased the album on ebay.
If the Standartenführer is indeed Pflomm - what would be the letters or numbers on his cuff title as someone obviously painted it black on the pic ???
Would it also be a simple "47" ???
And what about the Reichswehr-General - any ideas ???

                        Thanks in advance,

                          Hi everybody,

believe it or not - I just had a phone call with Ortlepps grand-daughter.
I might have the chance to see her soon and see some more photos and docs of her grandpa

                          Cheers,
