        Thanks for showing the pic. One comment, the tank is a "Lee," not a "Grant." The former was the standard US Army version with the circular turret. The latter was a variant made just for the British Army, with a bulge at the back of the turret to accommodate a radio.

                  The two most recent pics are indeed Grants. Thanks for posting them. The turret difference is obvious.

                  The Red Army claimed to dislike Allied tanks, but ended up often assigning them to Guards units, because they were much more reliable than poorly-built (though well-designed) Soviet tanks. This is a point I've been stressing online and in my latest writings. It was no accident that the Red Army assigned Shermans to the Guards Tank Armies during 1944-45. These were the forces that exploited breakthroughs in the German lines, and for this, the Sherman (the same chassis as the Lee/Grant) was ideal.

                      No it wasn't, that is just a post war "urban legend". For a start the tank didn't have a crew of seven.
