        I didn't think you did as you addressed it as a M43 Cap instead of a bergmuetze. The features you want to look for are the cap insignia as shown, the two brown wooden buttons instead of metal and the short bill/visor....if he was turned the other way you would see the edelweiss on the left side of the cap. Bill

          So it looks like a m43 cap but it isnt. Thanks for the pointers Bill, still got loads to learn

            That is one of the things that this forum is all about....learning!!! There is still plenty for us all to learn about. By the way #203 is not a Gebirgsjaeger that is one of the photos I posted. Bill

            Here is a recent pickup of a Gebirgsjaeger portrait. Notice he does not have an edelweiss on his bergmuetze but he definitely is one.

              Bill i meant it in terms of comparing the field caps not saying he was a gebrigs trooper

                              I wasn't sure what you meant as you only said you should have looked at #203...I interpreted that as you comparing it to be the same as the Gebj cap!! Also nice photos you posted...thanks for sharing them with us as well.

                              Here is a small grouping on a Luftwaffe Field Division Uffz. Karl Simons who was KIA 11 May 1943 in the East.
