Am I crazy or is that a LW cap eagle on Photo #61?

Bryant....I thought all TR collectors are crazy? In this particular case you are not seeing things i.e., LW sidecap on the head of a Heere soldier.

I always wonder what the story is behind men wearing uniform items from other branches? Or the point where a soldier could "get away" with uniform embellishments like metal cap eagles applied over cloth insignia or wearing SS type skulls on wrap collars rather than Panzer type?

Looking at this thread you really see a surprising amount of variation in uniforms.

Kinda reminds me of an old spoof song....They are coming to take me away to the funny farm..hoo! hoo! he! he! ha! ha! Where life is nothing but a dream!!

anyway....I think I have had a discussion before and believe this sometimes took place at the studio where the photo was taken. Possibly the Photographer had various items on hand to use in photo shoots. such as peaked & side caps, helmets, uniform jackets, belt and buckles, cufftitles, etc., and sometimes they are missmatched. They can get away with it at the studio but not back at the kaserne or barracks. See attached example of a studio portrait where the Fallschirm Division CT is on the wrong side and appears to be just placed on sleeve (current ebay auction item) for the photo session.

by the way...that is what this thread is all about...showing the variations in uniforms and sometimes catching an oddity, variation or combination not normally seen which makes it a very interesting and popular thread to view.
