SS medical document for award of Gold Wound Badge / Prague

I'm not sure if I've identified this interesting SS document properly. But it looks to drafted at a hospital, and given to an SS soldier, showing his award of the Gold Wound Badge. Probably (?) for a "heavy wound." Can anyone shed any details or comments?

Your guy was blind ("kriegsblind").

So Josef Pfitzer was no doubt awarded the EK 2nd class, and the Gold Wound Badge, for the lose of his eyesight, presumably in battle. Sad.

Interesting document. Let's hope this guy wasn't still in Prague when the Czechs started their genocide in May, 1945.

He is not listed in the Volksbund list…

The document issued by the SS hospital dept. for war blinded simply certifies that the named soldier has the EK 2 and wound badge in gold. The document does not indicate when and for what they were awarded.

Indeed the document only confirms that your war-blinded guy had bee bestowed with the wound

badge in gold - not the reason why he was awarded the badge but he must have been wounded

in action (WIA) with the result that he was blind. If a soldier was seriously wounded and he was

totally blind he normally was bestowed with the wound badge in gold.
