German newspaper article from 1943 with note about Katyn Forest Massacre...

    Hi,

I’m looking for German newspaper article from 1943 with note about Katyn Forest Massacre committed by Russians. <st1 =""><st1 ="">Katyn</st1> <st1 ="">Forest</st1></st1> is a wooded area near Gneizdovo village, a short distance from <st1:city><st1 ="">Smolensk</st1></st1:city> in <st1:country-region><st1 ="">Russia</st1></st1:country-region> where, in 1940 on Stalin's orders, the NKVD shot and buried over 4000 Polish service personnel that had been taken prisoner when the <st1 ="">Soviet Union</st1> invaded <st1:country-region><st1 ="">Poland</st1></st1:country-region> in September 1939 in WW2 in support of the Nazis.

In 1943 the Germans exhumed the Polish dead and blamed the Soviets. In 1944, having retaken the Katyn area from the Germans, the Soviets exhumed the Polish dead again and blamed the Nazis. The rest of the world took its usual sides in such arguments. <o =""></o>
In 1989, with the collapse of Soviet Power Gorbachev finally admitted that the Soviet NKVD had executed the Poles, and confirmed two other burial sites similar to the site at Katyn. Stalin's order of March 1940 to execute by shooting some 25,700 Poles, including those found at the three sites, was also disclosed with the collapse of Soviet Power. This particular second world war slaughter of Poles is often referred to as the "Katyn Massacre" or the "Katyn Forest Massacre".

Please help me with this! <o =""></o>

I'd suggest going on eBay, search for Signal magazine, and sooner or later, you'll come across an example.

Also, Signal is a popular item here on the Forum. I would suggest going on the estand want area and putting your wants before the membership. This is not a particularly difficult issue to find.

Feel free to contact me and I can send you some scans.

        Good luck!!

FLASH FLASH FLASH FLASH FLASH FLASH...............

There is an example of this issue available on eBay NOW...

Go on eBay and look up auction number 6530115352

Bid on this and good luck!!!!

Oh well, Robert. Don't lose heart. As I mentioned above, this is not all that rare an item. Keep scanning eBay. This issue will appear again.

As an aside, the former Soviet archives recently released a copy of the order, signed by Stalin, ordering the execution of the Polish officers.

Funny thing, my wife’s grandfather told me once the story from September 1939. He and few other soldiers were arguing to whom they should surrender (it was the last week of the September – the war was obviously lost). Almost everyone was in favor of Russians except my wife’s grandfather and his few close friends. So the next day only few of them surrendered to Germans. Later on in German POW camp he learned that all other soldiers who choose to go to Russians have been executed by the members of Stalin great army…ironic, isn’t?<o =""></o>
