Not sure Ken. Would have to see how the unit was equipped at that time. I think by 1942 the Hs126 was pretty much out of service, and replaced by ac like the FW189, Ju88, etc.

          Hi Ken

Patzwall's book on the Ehrenpokal shows Oberleutnant Christian Kalauch was an Observer when awarded the Goblet on 10th August 1942. Scherzer's book on the German Cross in Gold recipients of the Luftwaffe shows he received the DKiG on 12th January 1943 when serving with 2.(H)/AG 21, when he still held the rank of Oberleutnant.

          2.(H)/21:

          Formed 1.11.38 in Stargard from 2./Aufkl.Gruppe 12.

          In 1.9.43 redesignated 1./NAGr.5.

          Served under Stab/NAGr.13 (5.42 - 10.42), Stab/NAGr.12 (11.42) and Stab/NAGr.8 (12.42 - 7.43).

          Known bases:

          Stargard, 11.38 - 8.39 (Hs 126)
          Arzfeld(?), 3.40 - 5.40
          St. Gabine, 7.40
          Bergen-op-Zoom, 10.40
          Orlowka(?), 7.41
          Gdow, 7.41
          Oswischtschi, 8.41
          Sloboda(?), 10.41
          Krasnogwardeisk, 2.42 - 4.43

The main operational code of this unit was P2

Aircraft returns recorded by Michael Holm show Henschel 126 flown by this unit throughout its operational career here: http://www.ww2.dk/oob/bestand/aufkl/b2ag21.html

You can search for German war dead here:

              http://www.volksbund.de/graebersuche.html

I have looked for your man and he is not listed so one would assume from this that he survived the war.
