    Pioneer Rienesl - 3. (mot.)/Pi.Btl. 262

I am researching the above individual and his very short military record. He was killed on 1 December 1939 near Eppenbrun, close to the French border. From what I know he was the victim of a German landmine "Minenunfall im Abschnitt I/I.R.486 bei Zollstock. 1 Pionier tot, 1 Pio.Feldwebel leicht verwundet". I would like to know what happened to him before this. When and where he was recruited (he was from South Bohemia) and where he served prior to his fatal accident.

I have been advised that addtional information is available from Deutsche Dienststelle for a fee but I'd like to know how easy or difficult it is to obtain this information and what exactly would be available.

If anyone else can add to the unit history I'd be grateful.

    K
