Greetings!
I know this is a long shot but I’m hoping to find some photographs and/or award documents signed by the last commander of the 15th Panzer Division in Africa. General Major Borowietz took over command of 15th Panzer in December 1942 and was with his Division until the bitter end of the Afrikakorps. He was promoted to Generalleutnant on May 1st and earned the Oakleaves to the Knight’s Cross (#235) on May 10 just before surrendering to the British.
I’m conducting researching on this General and the battles surrounding his division in early 1943 in Tunisia. I’m also trying to obtain his interrogation reports after his surrender as well as the Vorschlag supporting Hitler’s decision to award him the Oakleaves.
Please let me know if you can share any pictures of General Borowietz in Africa or documents related to or signed by him (typically award documents).
Before arriving in Africa, Borowietz was commander of the 10th Rifle Regiment in Russia from June 10, 1941 until October 5, 1942.
Any help would be truly appreciated!!
David
