Researching an SS Totenkopfring to Heiger

    Hello !!!!

    H-e-i-g-e-r?

I don't find any SS officer by that name in December 1937, which is the last "all ranks of officers" Seniority List that I have. (The 1942 reprint I have is only Standartenführer up and the 1944 ones are only Sturmbannführers and up).

French MacLean's books on concentration camp and Einsatzgruppen officers also have no one by that name.

    Two possibilities:

    1) Heiger was NOT an officer at all. NCOs also received these rings.

    2) It might be a fake? All I know about these rings is that there are lots of fake ones.

          Could it be:
          Heiger, Willibald
          Born 05.06.1908
          SS-Obersturmführer 11.09.1938
          76. Standarte
          Partei-Nr. 197750
          SS-Nr. 49321

The Dienstaltersliste from 01.12.1938 doesn't list the ring for him, though.

          Cheers,

          Hans

Are u sure Heiger was already an Ostuf. in 1938?
Or is this his Algemeine SS Rank as John Moore lists him as an
Oscha. in the Waffen-SS in July 1940.

                09.11.1936 Untersturmführer

It is just one list. No division in Allgemeine / Waffen-SS.

Ostuf. Willbald Heiger was killed on 10.08.44 and not on 10.04.44 like the Volksbund says. Otherwise he would be burried on the Eastfront and not in France as the LAH was still on the eastfront in the beginning of April '44.

The Volksbund site contains more then 1 error...
the date on his grave gives 10.08.44

                    Cheers

According to John P. Moore's Führerliste der Waffen-SS, SS-Ostuf. Heiger was the Chef of the 4./SS-Panzer-Grenadier-Regiment 2 from July 1944.

                          Regards,
                          Edwin
