First IAB AWARDS

Hi guys,

Can anyone tell me the names of the two soldiers who were the first to be awarded the Infantry assault badge. I believe it was an officer and an enlisted man and it occured on the 28th May 1940. Also, what units these two recipients were attached to would also be great. Thanks.

From John Angolia, Military Awards Of The Third Reich.

I quote:

"...the first award was given to a young Infantry Lieutenant, Willi Korbel, in April 1940 ..."

I am sure that as you state, there was also an enlisted man who also recieved the award at the same ceremony but regrettably, I can find no mention in my library.
