Hi,
I picked up a LW 2nd model dagger named to
WM. W. VOLBACH
Any chance of research and learning something about this Luftwaffe officer?

The WM makes me think his rank was Wachtmeister ie. Sergeant

Would he carry a dagger?

Yep, as of an order dated 12th March 1940 Senior NCOs were also permittted to wear the dagger.

forgot to say that if that is his rank then he was almost certainly a member of the Flak artillerie.
