Hello I am new here I was directed from missing-lynx.com. I am looking for some info to pass along to an old friend that comes in my shop. He served in the Kriegsmarine and was captured in late 1944 off a U-Boat. He is trying to find out information on the fighting in around his home towns of Striegau (Strzegom) and Lubin. From what I have been able to find this area was fought over by the 1st Ukraine Front and German Army Group Center around the middle of March 1945. Does anyone have any info on these areas, order of battles, or know of any books that cover this. He knows there was a German infantry division in the town and part of a SS division from his family stories but this is all he has been able to find out. He does have an interesting story of a house for the insane in Lubin where the Russian held the first floor, the insane people on the second, and the Germans on the third. Also as a side note he is a cousin, 2nd I think, to Uwe Feist that has written some books. Thanks for your help.

Hi and welcome to WAF. This is predominantly a collectors forum with relatively few historians here. By far the best place for this kind of question if you don't get any help here is the Axis History Forum.
Edit: ok i see you did already ask over there.Last edited by Simon O.; 02-21-2009, 11:50 AM.Collecting German award documents, other paperwork and photos relating to Norway and Finland.
