I am getting material regularly both from BA-MA Freiburg and from WASt Berlin. In my experience both work differently as follows:
BA-MA: Once they were convinced of the legitimacy of my work, they are happy to send me full personalakten through contractor Selke. Each time however I have to fax them the signed legal forms BEFORE the release the material. I deal with them for Heer and Luftwaffe officers.
WASt: They were tougher in terms of their approval of me and my work. they have finally accepted that, but continue to send me only their own typed summaries as opposed to actual copies of original docs. I deal with them for Kriegsmarine officers and NCOs of all branches. I spoke to them over the phone and they said they will study producing copies for me, but that is not what they do normally. they suggested also that BAMA may have the Personalakten of the KM officer we were dealing with.
Is that your experience as well?
