    Vet story

    I will be on a panel with a guy I heard was in WW2. I asked and he sent this:

    Thanks for the note. I look forward to meeting you as well. Here is a short military bio. Entered army in 1942, basic at Ft. Bragg. One year in Greenland (we went to replace 800 men who were lost when their ship the SS Dorchester was torpedoed in the North Atlantic.) Returned to the states for Artillery Officers Course at Ft. Sill, OK and back to Europe in time for the Battle of the Bulge. Was in the 489th Armored Arty Bn of the Seventh Armored Div. After Belgium fought through the Rhineland and crossed at Remagen. Ended the war at Halle an der Salle in what was to become the Russian Zone.
