I have a Wehrpass from a member of Inf.Rgt. 110, he was severely wounded in Russia on November 18th, 1.941 and died at Res.Laz. II Lubeck on January 14th 1.942, but he was buried in Dusseldorf (he was born on Dresden, but lived there). Is this normal, if your death took place in Germany you were transpoted to your home town to be buried?
Perhaps a little morbid question, but always I have the image of the russian estepe or the afian desert as the final resting place of the majority of the german casualties and finding this piece make me wonder how many families had the oportunity to really buried his relatives and not like other hundred of thousands that only has a mass to cry and pary for them.
