Superb badge , it's a nice CEJ ROAG that I would like to see. The case fits this, but it is not the earliest of boxes.

Seb is right. The case that houses my badge is one of the earliest ROAG cases you can find. It has a raised base and is only suitable for a thin badge. A heavy type of case and the insert and connecting band shows features of the earliest cases.
The example posted by Brian and Jacek is ofcourse an early version too, but imo not the earliest. Beside the J1 i also found a few times J3 badges in this type of case. Not one time, but a few times. As you might notice that type of case is also suitable for housing a second pattern, thick wreath badge.
Stating that cases with a purple inner lid are the earliest is not proven. There are many second pattern cases that have a similar purple lid.
I have seen many CEJ badges in these early, blue type of cases. They all show the same features.
Another excellent reference in this theory are the rectangular award cases which housed the first model po, and also the civil pilot badge.
Same looks, same texture, same characteristics. All these cases are very early luftwaffe awards... and that's a fact.
