    Luft Flak Badge

    Hi All,
Thinking this may be unmarked ball hinge Flak Badge. The wreath, the gun, the hinge and pin look textbook. But concerned about the eagle, looks to have been resoldered at some time. The eagle looks to have only two talons? The eagle head is not like any other I have seen, maybe part of beak is missing? Is this is just a beaten up old bird?
    Any ideas?

        Hi Mike

Due to its claws and eye, I think this FLAK could be a bad one. Let's see how about others' opinions

        best regards

Eagle is definetly not the same as the unknown maker. Note particularly the position of the claws. The reverse also looks a bit different to me. I seem to see a depression in an area mine does not have on the back of the knob (gear) that sticks out. Anyhow, the eagle definetly looks all wrong. Interesting to see what others say. Would like to see pic of catch from side.

I think it could be an original unknown maker (possibly Adolf Scholze) Flak badge with a REPLACED eagle. The eagle might have been taken from a fake badge.

Very odd...Frank is right - the badge is very typical for the ball-hinge Flak. But the eagle is ALL wrong! Here is a good one:

My guess: badge was denazified, guy broke old eagle off and replaced it with "some" eagle from another Flak badge to make it sellable again. You can see on the obverse that the eagle was sloppily soldered on.
                Cheers, Frank

ya....Frank could be right. This badge looks like AS FLAK, but eagle doesn't.

                  regards

                    Luftwaffe Flak Badge Adolf Scholze

                    Hi,
i bought this falk badge on auktion.
I think it is a god one.
                    Opinions neded.
                    Thanks
                    Sasha

Unfortunately this badge with the scooped out reverse and AS mark is a known fake. Originals of this badge do not have the scooped out reverse and do not have a maker mark. But they are most likely indeed made by Scholze. See post#7 in this thread for an original.
                      Cheers, Frank

I should have welcomed you first! Use that site you have there to study FAKES, you will learn a lot. My knowledge about originals I got from other sources, but that site you show educates me about fakes for about three years now. Always remember: Not everthing sold as original is original.

                            Wow!!

That badge is a pretty good effort!

Not really - look at the details. The feathers (or lack) in the wings. The poorly defined rivets. Compare it to the one I posted. Not to mention the catch-pin, and the ball hinge! Night and day!
