    Pilot, hope springs eternal

    Pilot, hope springs eternal...
    Greetings
I see zinc pilot badges at Weitze and Husken that are considerably less expensive than earlier nicer versions. All have lost their finish and are dull grey. Some are, and some are not, maker marked. Even less expensive (about $200) is this broken and repaired badge with a crack at the rivets in the wreath. Any chance it is real? It could fill that empty space in my display.
    Best Regards
    Chris

I do not see anything that bothers me from these pix...other than the repair..but would like to see better pix for a more educated opinion...however one odd thing is if the badge is a zincer why would the catch not have a base?

I would agree with John, better pic's are needed.. It has the characteristics of a late, zinc BSW but seeing that this maker is so widely copied I would still want to make sure that is was original, what ever the price..
Ask the seller for clearer images, without the digital white-out. If the seller is confident in his item, I'm sure he won't mind..
        Warmest Regards ... John

          Thank you

          Greetings,
I am grateful for your opinions. The absence of a base under the hook is kind of detail I miss as a beginner. It does make me less comfortable with this badge. I have asked for better pictures. Although, for the right price, the repaired wreath doesn’t bother me, I would prefer a badge with a maker mark.
          Thank you again,
          Chris

Seller’s response to request for better pictures was “I don’t ship outside Europe”. I wonder how common the “break across the rivets” is? It wouldn’t show in a shadow box display.
