    Juncker recon. clasp cutouts

    Hi
Checking some pieces using old threads on the forum for guidance I saw someone say these clasps should have either a perfect little hole (in the leaves) or triangles... no little dipple of extra finishing at the peak of the triangle.. see this thread
    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...=juncker+clasp
My clasp has extra finishing, and IMO is original.. sure smells like it in the hand.
    Anyone any thoughts?
    Thanks
    Colin

I've continued to study.. found this thread with juncker bomber clasp, it too has the little dimples at the end of the triangles, but everyone thinks this clasp is ok

Think I'll just leave it at that.
        Cheers

          Colin,

Looks like you reached the right conclusion. I would say you have a very nice exampl of a rare MMd clasp.

            Dear Colin,

I would rather be worried if a Juncker clasp would NOT have those dimples.

Thanks, it's a great clasp, I just saw that thread and thought it best to ask and be safe..
Most of the pics of Juncker clasps are'nt showing now anymore, but there was a reverse shot of a nice bronze one you posted Frank, thanks for that. Thanks to you also Skip for your opinion.
              Cheers

As an update to this topic, Detlev Niemann has a Juncker bomber clasp on page 688 of his new book, it has the perfect round holes in the leaf region, so it appears both types of cutout can be encountered on Juncker clasps.

That´s right, but most have the triangle-dimple shape. There is a logical explanation why some might have been left "unrefined". In the case of the Juncker clasps, the triangles were not cut out by the cutting tool, they were firstly drilled as a perfectly round hole and then filed into triangle shape. This caused the "dimples", if you look hard, you can still see the round drill-holes, despite the file job.
                  Cheers, Frank
