Let me take a moment to thank you in advance.

First up is a 9mm Luft Flak. The LDO card has seen better days. If you need more or better pictures, let me know and I will try my best.

All look fine to me. Love the ROAG!

(Probably get more responses in the Luft section)

Which one? There is the WWII 16mm and the 57er 9mm versions.

            Cheers

The 9mm Flak looks good, but I seriously doubt the 16mm ROAG without bolts.

              cheers

Not many out there, but I don't ever recall seeing a 9mm or a 16mm WWII ROAG mini with the rivets "bolts".

I can see if your talking about a full size, but being that mini's are as small as they are, one would question the integrity of the mini. Adding holes in the wreath for the rivets / bolts would surely make the metal fail and make them extremely easy to bend / break. I would assume mini's were not an issue item like the full size badge and the airman / soldier would have to pay out of pocket for them like I did when I was on active duty.

Full size medals are an issue item, (granted to have the full size medals mounted was an out of pocket expense, and the medals were issued to me) but for miniature medals that was an out of pocket expense for me. For the amount of medals I had while on active duty, for all 11 minis and having them mounted would have ran me a tad over $100, hence why I never made it to a Navy ball. It was always full dress blues with mini's and extra fees to add more over time plus the price of the ticket to the ball.

Hence why the moved away from stamped / hollow back badges to the more sturdier solid back badges like the Infantry Assault Bade, etc. too many soldiers were needing to get replacements, if I am not mistaken.

                  Hi,

When Peter states "the ROAG without bolts" he is referring to the 1st badge without the lightening bolts. His comment is not about the lack of rivets. His comment is probably based on the somewhat crude manner of the depicted badge for a 16 mm version. I had assumed this was a 9 mm version when I made my comments. That being said stickpins can be hard to verify, esp the rarer badge versions.

                    Brian:

It's quite possible that your stickpin is actually the
'Flight Engineer/Air Gunner' piece instead of the 'Radio
                    Operator/Air Gunner' one.

Looking at it a little closer it doesn't have the lightening bolts, or ever having them and they being cut off. Looking through a jewelers loupe doesn't appear to have any damage or breaks to where the lightening bolts might have been.

                      It just might be that?

                      Cheers

                            If I were buying these....

No problems with the 9mm FLAK

No problems - (believable) on the Flight Engineer/Air Gunner

No problems with the "57" (if you like that kind of thing)

I'd spend the money on the "Engineer/Gunner" pin....It's quite
possible it actually was made during the war. 50% - 50%
