Luftwaffe pin: real or...?

Got this yesterday (for free) and was just wondering what the opinion was on it's authenticity. My guess is fake, but there sure seems to be some age (rust) and it has a burned look - not to mention the melted wing - but all that can be faked too.

I am totally unfamiliar with Luftwaffe items, so any thoughts would be great.

Likely made of lead and it was melted, not burned.

That's what I figured. Hell, like I say it was a freebie, so it never hurts to check.

I don't think it's lead, as it's not soft enough to be that - but surely some kind of cheap metal of some kind.
