Markers
I just had a few question about a few different markers. Do you know what badges E. Ferd Weidmann (#19 on the manufacturer list) made, also is there any different markers by assmann i that arnt A's , is there a difference of just a type on the LDO list, Prasidialkanzlei Numbers between 35 (F.W> Assmann & Sohn) and Patial Linced Firms (L/64 F.A. Assmann and Sohne)

Assmann has always been "F.W. Assmann & Sohne" and "L/64" is the Lieferanten number for Assmann. If an Assmann badge is marked, you can find the "A" somewhere on the badge. As far as E. Ferd Weidmann is concerned, perhaps other members can contribute info on this manufacturer.

The Assmann company was founded in 1826 by Friedrich Wilhelm Assmann, hence the F.W. in the company name. These are the abbreviation of the founders first names. His son Eugen Assmann followed and died in 1929, when his son Rudolf assmann took over. Rudolf died in 1940. I have no info on who followed up after Rudolf, but the company name always remained F.W. Assmann & Söhne.
It can safely be assumed that Assmann did not have a LDO concession before January 1945. This is when they started to mark their latest para badges and Luftwaffe Flak badges with L/64. Knowing that by regulations no Luftwaffe badges at all were sold through the LDO before January 1945, this dates the L/64 marked Luftwaffe badges (I am not aware of any L/64 marked badges EXCEPT for Luftwaffe badges) into 1945, certainly some of the latest badges of the Third Reich. This would also explain why Assmann never marked any of their (earlier) badges with L/64.Cheers, Frank
