what do you think about the Luftwaffe close combat clasp which has been sold by Hermann-Historica (65th Auction, No. 5415) for 8000 Euro recently?

The clasp itself looks rather good, but I can't comment the eagle device.

It's a fake ,nebver produced. The clasp could be original but modifie to accept the eagle .Another mistake the svastica is present on the laure

Manufacture typical for the end phase of the war, with a very neatly stamped obverse and production defects on the edge because of the poor qualityof the fine zinc.
The juncture of the laurel wreath with the oak leaf arms not fully perforated. Bellied iron attachment pin with soldered-on hinge and counter hook.
The bronze finish is migrated, and the non-ferrous metal(?) appliquc (attached by only a single rivet, not adequately affixed) is dark-toned in places but its silvering is nearlyintact.
This clasp was apparently produced by one of the manufacturers of the Luftwaffe squadron clasps, because the typical production methods are discernible as well as the style of the stamping tool at the lower edge of the laurel wreath with the swastika, which was not part of the design of the squadron clasp.
A few typewritten possession documents are known, but no official printed forms, and there are corresponding pay book and military service book entries.
The awardees were probably exclusivelygiven the ArmyClose Combat Clasp.
The award institution date was in November 1944, the small production output can be dated in the final weeks of the war.

Hi guys,

I can only agree, the clasp is an original Longrange Fighter clasp. Someone took it, neatly cut out the rest of the central motif, stuck a crappy LW eagle on it and glued it all together. I bet if we had good, clean pics of this one it would be very apparent that the central area was recently cut out IMO.

I was very surprised that this clasp has been offered as genuine by Hermann Historica and still I cannot imagine why.

The eagle has been applied roughly, but the hardware looks ok - That was my frist impression as I saw this clasp.

The quality is too bad to declare it as some sort of reliable prototype, in my opinion.

Anyway - 8 k is a bunch of bills.
