    GAB for Oppinions

Well I took the plunge today.
Did I do well, or just throw away money?

Maybe I'm mistaken, but from these overexposed pictures, I see not what I would expect to see in an original Arno Wallpach. Oak leaves are not well defined on the edges and the back side shows holes of different shape compared to the original.

    My books:

    - THE WEHRPAß & SOLDBUCH OF THE WH
    - THE SS TK RING
    - THE ITALIAN-GERMAN MEDAL
    - THE ANTI PARTISAN BADGE
    - THE AWARDS OF THE LW

    and more!

Pictures are not the best, but I´m leaning towards original AWS.

I think Daniel is correct, I'm at home now and in my pc this GAB looks better than in my phone.

          Thanks to all.
The big problem is that this has such a good finish that even the lowest setting of flash creates a reflection. These were the best of 12 shots. When the weather is better I will try in natural light outside.

Do you think I did ok buying it at $100?

          Thanks again,

          Timo

              Hello guys,

Sorry to be different here, but I am not liking the badge that started this thread. There are some pretty good fakes of these badges around and I'm feeling that this is one of them. If I am wrong, I do apologize. I do not want to mislead anyone but, based on what I see, I would not want to have this badge. I have owned quite a number of these Wallpach badges over the years and have studied them a lot. The edges of this badge look sloppy and indistinct. The edges of originals have a much more precise and scalloped look. The cutout areas around the eagle also look sloppy and these areas should also be very precise.

The original Wallpach badges were produced by injection molding. This manufacturing process will yield badges with very tight dimensional consistency, crisp details, well-defined edges, and very precise cutout areas. The badge that started this thread falls short, IMO.

Look at the pictures below and notice how crisp and precise the edge outlines and cutouts are on an original.

There is also some good information in this thread:

I've checked better, and I come back to my first impression. Wrong cut outs and soft details. This badge is not what I'd like to have in collection.

Well put explanation Tom....definitely the first badge is not original IMO.

                        Cheers,

Not convinced of that. Maybe the owner could provide some pictures that resemble the quality of the forum.

Thanks, I will check the weight and measures and take new photos.

The interesting thing is this came from the estate of an American Colonel, along with some other interesting pieces, now I am beginning to doubt some other pieces in the lot.

Thanks, Timo! Measurements are always helpful and if you can take a straight on shot of the front and reverse, that would be great.

                              Best regards,
