    Dear Francois,

As I said I will believe it once I see one that is believable. Up to now, I have only had the pleasure to see or handle zinc pendants. When it comes to originals at least. So L.V.Bl., Ziff 1744 explicitly say these are made of Tombak?

But this is just distracting from our main discussion. What do you guys think NOW?
    Cheers, Frank

      Points taken sofar ,Frank.

      Just for the record :

The clasps you've handled at shows ,were they sold as fake or did you draw that conclusion based on the facts you've said here ?

        Dear Jos,

Let me answer with a question: have you ever seen any good quality fake sold at a show as a fake? Of course it was sold as an original. On tables filled with more crap.
        Cheers, Frank

          junker sw 68 stamp

Hello everyone, Hi Frank Iam the fella you got that last picture of the junker 68 recon clasp from, I respect you highly Frank, Ive read alot of your opinions on differant awards, I really wish you would publish a ref. book to this hobbie with your wealth of knowledge to share with us,and THE FUTURE generation of collectors. Anyway I bought (not the recon),backed out of that one,but months ago got the gold bombers clasp with (REPO) box with it for $595.00 form P&K military antiques, also a cased junkers para badge marked the junkers 68, I can tell you the para is of high quality but i have heard of dealers, jamei cross and that detliv fella state that the junkers 68 mark is rare and doesnt show-up much, I need to see real examples to conclude on my para. I bought these BEFORE I knew about this great forum.Regards to all, Mike Guido

            Hi Mike,

            Welcome to the forum!

I'd suggest a search (it's an option in the menu bar near the top of the screen) using the phrase "Juncker Para", or similar. This should quickly locate many threads in which genuine Juncker LW Para Badges are imaged/posted. Carefully compare and contrast with your own example. There are two types of genuine high quality Juncker LW Para Badges - one is relatively common, the other is rare.

Re the "SW 68" marking, what you've heard is correct imo. The marking is only found on genuine ZINC Juncker badges (and possibly the odd tombak Flak Badge) and is not encountered very often. If you have an example of a LW Para Badge in a high quality basemetal (tombak/bronze, nickel-silver, etc) then it doesn't sound too good wrt authenticity.

            Regards
            Mike K

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

If you PM/contact me without the courtesy of using your first name, please don't be offended if I politely ignore you!

              Hi Mike,

I can only agree, sent you a PM what to search for, you can also send the pics of the para to my address: frank.heukemes@t-online.de

P.S.: book is on the way (on the GAB though)
              Cheers, Frank

Stephen Flood's reputation is not what it used to be (ever was?).

                  The Clasp that started this

                  Jos,
I'm the owner of the clasp at the beginning of this thread. The first few responses were negative and I was going to try for a refund. But then a new dialogue was posted, featuring you, Francois and Frank.

My clasp and yours share identical features. The die cut edges and the pin, for example, look the same. The hallmark: I have looked carefully into the die marks on mine. The gold is plated inside the marks and does not appear to be stressed. This indicates that it was hallmarked, then plated. Perhaps this is not too significant, but I thought I'd report it anyway.

I have decided to keep my clasp. Perhaps this is a case of "experts agree to disagree?"

Thank you for putting your opinions and photos on this site.
