Osang tombak para badge part II?

After seeing the recent thread discussing american patriot's Osang marked para badge I thought I would post some more pics. for some further info.

I'm interested to explore why Osang would not have made earlier badges of tombak or buntmetal if they later produced zinc examples.

I actually have a supposed tombak badge so I do have a vested interest!!

However I will also post a few pics. of tombak and a zinc badge as sold by Detlev.

The first few pics. are my badge.

All three of these look like typical, textbook Osang ZINC para badges.

Your badge has indeed a strange metal colour coming through on the reverse wreath, which looks like Tombak. I hope your badge isn´t a casting made from a good Osang para. What is teh weight of your badge and its dimensions? Can you provide better pics of that area? ...and of your badge in general:

              -not oblique
-cut the white flash around the item itself and make as big as possible (750 pixels high)

              Thank you.
              Cheers, Frank

                Hi Frank

Sorry for the "average" pics of my badge.

I will try and get some measurements & weight.

I'm not sure I can improve on the pics. due to camera limitations!!

Is there a chance my badge is in fact zinc?
I also believe the second badge pictured was sold by Detlev as a tombak piece.

I remember that, but that was IMO a mistake on his side.

I am afraid without better pics, nothing definite can be said about your badge.
                  Cheers, Frank

I enhanced your obverse picture a bit.

                              I see the following things:

-metal seems to be indeed NOT zinc, this also goes for the eagle

-all around, shapes, forms, design and maker mark SEEM to match original Osang para badges, but detail is muddy. This leads me to assume it might be a casting from a good zinc Osang para badge done in another metal than zinc.

-the hinge and catch have catchplates, normally only found on zinc badges. Quite suspect.

-the catch shape when viewed from the side like in your second last pic is wrong for an original Osang para badge. See the two Detlev pics to check what the original shape looks like.

In my opinion, your badge is a casting from an original Osang para badge. The pics are really bad, but I would be really surprised if the rivets were right either. I would give this badge a thumbs down from what I see.
