    Pimp the Pilot...Part X

    Hello all,

after the latest threats and discussions about the refinishing / cleaning I wanted to let you know the following "little story":

I was offered from Collector A in January a nice, very special Imme Pilot badge, cased, with normal signs of wear.

What the badge made special is the very unique and rare maker mark: JMME with a kind of box around the maker mark....you will see on the images what I mean and this ( next to many other identifiyers) makes it easy to recognize this badge.

I did not buy it as I wanted to save funds for another deal.

Then......only some weeks later I saw a "JIMME" pilot badge for sale offered from Collector B .....I had a look and on reverse it had exactly the same maker mark as the badge which was offered to me before.....but the badge now offered looked so bright, so light.....so CLEAN.

I had a close look and made some copies for my files of the images and I wanted to show this to all of you...to make your own mind, if I see Ghosts or if this is "Part X" of the never ending Pimp the Pilot story???

    Kindest regards

    Martin

        Hallo Martin,

Another cook up badge for $$$. I would prefered the first state of the badge. What a disgrace.

I have no problem with washing badges gently in soap and water (for hygiene reasons if no other) but this badge has been pretty much ruined by vigorous cleaning. Really sad.

This bling cleaning job has robbed eagle of it's blued finish. Tragic.

Has anyone ever seen that style JMME makermark before? I just can't recall seeing it.

                        Hi Captain Tim,

I had the images of the uncleaned badge sent to Tom Durante.

He cofirmed the originality and pointed out that this kind f maker mark is very rare, but still ok for this maker.

Maybe Tom could confirm this when he will chime in here after his vacation.

                        Best

I just did a search and found an image of a similar makermark on a beautiful badge from the Tim Ball collection. Hope he doesn't mind me posting the image.

very sorry for the beautiful blue of the Eagle, keep this kind of blueing rather rare.
The imprint of the stamp does happen more frequently ...

In my view, has experienced this badge, no appreciation.

                            greetings woodeye

Indeed, a beateful Pilot badge with the rarer dark oxy has been destroyed.

                              Sad indeed.
