        Update

All-I spoke to the owner today and asked him to post the letter (per Tims request). He stated he would consider it and would let me know in September when he had time to retrive it. Sorry for the delay I would like to post the letter and close out the story/thread. Dirk

Check out this shot of Major Otto Bertram, Legion Condor's most successful pilot with eight victories. Looks like an early Assmann to me...???

Here's Oberleutnant Wilhelm Beier, 14 victories as Fernnachtjager, (Long Range Nightfighter) "Intruder" with I./NJG 2. Intruders shot down RAF bombers over British territory while they formed up for a night raid over their own airbases.

He ended up flying the me-262 at night and had a total of 36 kills.

Can you take a guess as to which maker his pilot's badge is????

Here's a closer shot of Beier's badge. Not an early Arsemann.

Notice the wingtips on the left, the eagle's head, and the chunky swas.

This is the first time I've seen one of these in wear.

                    Any guesses now?

That's what I thought but I didn't want to be dumb. So Neil said it first. I just thought it.

                              OK, let's try this one.

                              Heinrich Ehrler

He wasn't tall, but he shot down over 200 enemy aircraft. Won the Oaks, was nominated for the swords, then that whole Tirpitz "goatus rope-endium" took place. Ended up losing his life at the end of the war ramming a B-17 after running out of ammo in an Me-262.

What kind of pilot's badge is he wearing???
