    Hi Alex,

I can only agree with the others, a fine original Assmann. Textbook rivets and hinge and maker mark. It has the uncommon ? shaped catch, which is very nice to see.

It also appears to have some initials scratched into the reverse of the wreath. Great badge with some very nice character.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

I see those initials too. Perhaps all the 'cleaning' of the reverse was an effort to 'sanitise' the badge, so as to intentionally get the guys name off it?

      A badge with super character!

        Hello guys,

thanks a bunch for the reply, you are right, there is a name scratched into the back of the wreath....I've completely missed it while I inspected the badge.

I will try to snap some better pictures of it tonight and post them.....

        Good eyes guys

alright, I now have criss-crossed eyes

BUT, I was able to decipher the scratched in name for the most part.....

          It is A N T O N _____ ? R N S T ......possibly E R N S T....?

How does it look to you?

          Thanks

                  Hi Alex,

I definitely see an "E" for Ernst.

                      Thanks Tom,

yes, it looks like an "E" or an "F" but FRNST is NOT a German name

                      So it is probably ERNST.....
