Which is interesting, because if you see some of the early FLL Para badges, there is significant flawing on the 1st pattern wreath....which is likely why they switched to the 2nd pattern. I don't see any flawing on either of your examples, which must mean they were very early or they came out of different dies than the Para wreaths. I think it is the former, since I cannot find any differences in the wreaths (other than the flawing ofcourse).

I am enjoying studying these 2 POs Tim, they are just gorgeous!

Well Tom, you got me thinking about potential flaws and I may have something. I cannot see any differences in the veining or other patterns between the two wreaths but there do appear to be two flaws in the thinner wreath badge (with typical FLL set up) that are not present in the thicker wreath version (with Juncker-style set up).

If you look at the second central laurel leaf from the bottom of the wreath (on the left as you look at the badge) there is a blob on the thinner wreath version (dark blue background) that runs between the central vein and the inner leaf edge and is not on the thicker wreath version (red background). See here:

A similar flaw is present on this FLL Pilot Badge too:

At the top of the wreath, where the oak leaves and laurel leaves meet, the thicker wreath version (red background) has a clean set of leaves with distinct edges. The thinner wreath version (dark blue background) has a 'bridge' between the laurel and oak leaves. It is not easy to see but it is there on the pilot badge too.

Has anyone else noticed these flaws?
